Flyte: Levitating Light
FLYTE is a levitating light, which hovers by magnetic levitation and is powered through the air. With FLYTE, we've set the lightbulb free.
The world moves so fast, so take a break from gravity and experience something surreal that appears suspended in time. FLYTE requires no batteries and powers light through the air via induction.
MAKER KIT: Create your own levitating thingy. The FLYTE Maker Kit includes a base and a magnet with 4 ultra bright LEDs powered wirelessly via induction. Share it with your friends, or combine them to make multiple levitating light sculptures. Light will rotate slowly around the room. We can't wait to see what you'll come up with.
Designed in Sweden, the FLYTE base is made of sustainable sourced oak, ash and walnut. We want your FLYTE to look good, feel good and last a long time. We use energy efficient LEDs rated at about 50,000 hours. That's 12 hours a day for 11 years!
Wireless power transfer transmission has been around since the days of Nikola Tesla. With FLYTE we've packed some of Tesla's tech and combined it with magnetic levitation, opening up a magical world of possibilities. Our wireless power module transmits about 5V and is completely safe and harmless. Edison and Tesla can finally be friends.
Power is transferred wirelessly from the base to the bulb.
How do I levitate FLYTE?
Gently lower the bulb over the center of the magnetic base. The LEDs will start to light up and you will start to feel an upward resistance. When the bulb is positioned exactly at the center of the base, you will feel a gentle release. The electro-magnets will automatically center the bulb in position. Slowly let go of the bulb and it willl lock in position, light up and rotate slowly.
FLYTE custom series features a handmade diamond-cut wooden base. Each unit is unique and numbered, and is made in Sweden from elm wood. Get your limited edition piece crafted from designer and woodworker Dan Henriksson.
Turning on & off your FLYTE is as simple as touching the surface of the base. Light will turn on & off while the levitation will remain intact.
Our capactive touch sensor is where the magic happens. Our FLYTE switch feels effortless and smooth, just like touching wood.
